Hi, I’m yarnie!

My horse obsession began sitting on my cousins mare from 1 year of age.. I would also sit in her feed bin while she ate her hard feed around me, this same mare was then given to me at 8 years of age and took me to pony club and shows.

I was lucky enough to have the most amazing role models in my riding instructor and her husband where I also agisted my horses for over 20 years and showed their palomino horses from their stud, this was a huge part of my childhood as I was there most days and were made to feel part of the family. I was also taught so much about all aspects of horsemanship, showing and breeding.

I showed and evented until I was 21 and starting riding a friend's QH and competing in rodeos in undecorating and this is where my love of rodeos began. My husband and I picked up a gelding for free as he was rather a handful and a year and lots of work later he won me my 1st state title.

I've had many horses over the years that I've been lucky enough to rodeo on and 10 years ago along came Chevy, I loved her from the moment I saw her and our partnership and trust in each other was like no other and that led to numerous state titles and wins and I'm forever grateful for her. At 19 she is now semi retired sound and happy and goes on the odd bush ride.

This year I purchased a great mare bub who was owned by a cowgirl I really admired and she has definitely given me the rodeo spark back along with my other horses in my team Elvis and Presley, this year was meant to be my year of getting back on the rodeo road but a breast cancer diagnosis early in the year changed that. Now I'm fit and well and slowly getting back to riding and keen for the rodeos ahead.

Kings barrel racing lessons and clinics started a few years ago when some fellow cowgirls asked for some help with their horses and I realised there was a need for guidance for people barrel racing and wanting to start the sport. I've travelled all through WA doing clinics and carrying out lessons from my home in Byford. I love seeing clients achieve goals and watch them enjoy the sport I love so much.
